Fetching his Gingerness in today from the field, he kept looking over across the river rather intently, while trying to do the gate catch he spun round and ended up at ropes length freaked out like Bambi, I had a long look and it turned out to be a couple of Donkeys in the field across the river, he pretty much pranced all the way back to the stables, then when into his stable he tucked into his dinner aggresively while keeping a very alert lookout for pony eating Donkeys :D, obviously they were going to swim the river, gallop over the fields and attack him and eat him in his stable

No idea, but if you ever find out, let me know! BC isn't too keen on the donks - there are a couple on one of our hacks, by the garden centre. Always make for interesting, even when they're not in the front field - BC has to have a very good luck to be sure :D

There seems to be a donkey near us at the new place in France (I could hear him braying when we were last over) and I am so worried the horses will go nuts and won't settle! My plan is to get a recording of a donkey braying and play it night and day in their current home and hope they get used to it! I have these images of getting them off the lorry in September, donkey goes off, horses piss off back to the UK all by themselves!

I parked Motor next to a field with 2 Donkeys in donkeys years ago and he did not like them one bit and was snorting and jumping around  .... I always put it down the the smell :confused::confused::confused::confused:

My mare, who's afraid of her own shadow, loves them. When I got my baby donk, she made friends straight away and protected, him rather too enthusiastically, from the rest of the herd!

lol, my horse goes out with donkeys! :D

he loves them! and he hates pigs/geese/ducks etc :p but loves chasing the chickens out of "his" yard :p

But another pony on yard wouldnt settle at all with them, very odd!

I don't know what the problem is, but both the Old and the Current Appy were/are not happy about them. Fortunately the CA is not as bothered as the OA was, as one of the RC rides ended with a BBQ, in a car park next to a field with 2 Donks in it :D It made for an interesting BBQ, with madam spinning round me like a top! She didn't even try and eat the bread from my burger! The OA once had a donk pass her field and I honestly thought she was going the scale the wall to kill it!
If anyone ever finds out how to prevent thos please let me know. :(

Mine's the same, our main hacking route takes us past a field with a pony and donkey in and if the donkey's visible through the hedge or gate we almost fall over our own feet our head is so far bent round trying not to take our eyes off it as we keep walking in case it heads our way...donkey meanwhile oblivious. But strangely this pony of mine is just fine about pigs :D

No idea as Pidge is fascinated by them and actively goes over to say hello. It was quite entertaining one year as there was a donkey show at the yard and some stabled on our yard. All the other horses freaked entirely bar Pidge who kept dragging me over to the stable door to shove his head over to say hello :D:rolleyes:

OMG..thats soooo weird..we had a stampeed today cus of two naughty donkeys!!

Te donkeys decided to follow me into the field..next thing i knew...we had 10 horses galloping up the field to chase them out...

Wouldnt of been so bad..but..the field gate was opened and we had 10 nutters running round the yard..

At least it saved us walking all the way down to the bottom of the field to catch them all..(freaks)..lol

Hope your little ginger monster has recovered from his ordeal..and you of course pedantic..lol..miss you both loads xx

Mine was in a pen with 3 mini donkeys when I went to buy her and she was most reluctant to leave them.

I then moved onto a yard that had 2 French donkeys, that stand about 16HH, she loved them too.

If I move to my own land, I shall be getting a couple of donkeys to keep her company.

Ordeal, he's as happy as a pig in muck with his new girlfirends all to himself, although he did come in with a bite on his bum yesterday, lucky thing :D
yea miss you two too X

Our horses love donkeys, guess they have no choice, as they live with six. Strangely enough, all the horses that pass our field don't bat an eyelid these days.

My first pony for 44 years was absolutely petrified of donkeys to the point where we were unable to take her to any show that had donkey classes as she would bolt in the opposite direction to them with absolutely no regards to where she was or where she was going.
Always wanted to know why she had this intense fear as she was absolutely bombproof in every other aspect.
