Hi all i juat wanted to ask a few questions about hunting, it is something i have never done ut have been to watch a few times and it looks great!!

My horse is a 17h when i bought him they said h had been used at one point as the huntsmans 2nd horse, if i took him hunting do you think he would think it was all of his xmas's and birthdats at once and just take off with me??

An are they all massive jumps and do you have to jump them?

Sorry if it sounds a tad thick, i just have no idea.

Thanks jodie

If he was huntsmans horse i am sure he would be quite sensible, however you may find he wants to be up front!
Depends which hunt you go with as to jumps! Most of them you can get round tho, and we don't have any with us!

HUnt horses rarely like schooling! There not used to it!! Mine are just getting there! There all used as huntsmans horses but i like them to work properly when not hunting! keeps there muscles stronger. Yorka nd ainsty have some decent fences but you should be able to get round anything you don't want to jump, and aim for cub hunting as it's a lot more quiet! (just v early mornings!)

I have an ex hunt horse - and he really wants to be in the front on any 'group occasion, if he isn;t he can get in a tizz. Avoid a big meet for the first day - in other words don't be tempted to go on Boxing Day!! First call the Hunt Sec and ask if there is a quiet meet for you to attend, no need to stay out all day if you don't want to.
