what is micronised linseed and brewers yeast used for?

Many people use both micronised linsees and brewers yeast, especially together, what are their main effects??

I am thinking of using it for my spanish boys and I know a lot of spanish horse owners rave about both of them! but I am having a senior moment and can not remember what they do! is it coat and hoof for linseed?!?

I feed micronised linseed, this is why I started feeding:

High in Omega 6 which is brill for joints
Weight gain without the fizz
Healthy hooves
Good for skin
