I'm thinking of applying for a new vacancy at the job I'm currently at, I'm already on shift work but this will be 4 on / 4 off days/nights.

Am thinking if I could get someone to do Bud for me on a morning when he finally comes in for the winter - need someone who can feed/change rug/turnout. No mucking out or exercising required as I can do that later on when I finish.

This will be on a week on/off basis and some weeks 4 days others 3/2/1 where applicable dependant on shift pattern.

Can only see if taking someone half hour max to do this, what would be reasonable to pay?
 
It really depends on the circumstances.
The pay would be very different for a person already at the yard and just doing extra work on the days you list, to a person having to actually come to the yard to sort him out.

Also depends where in the UK you are.
 
I think it would be different if you were paying someone who is already at the yard doing their horse, or yard owner (in this case I'd pay £5 perhaps per day), or if you were paying a freelance groom who has to factor in tax, fuel and insurance etc. In that case perhaps £8/day? We pay £10-12 per hour for someone to come and do our horses on morning a week, but they are there an hour and a half, so it is worth them coming. Dunno if they'd bother for £5...
 
I'm on small yard where there are only 3 of us, the yard owner wouldn't do it or he'd forget. The other 2 liveries keep themselves to themselves and I wouldn't feel comfortable asking them to do him.
 
Well if you have to get someone in specifically for your horse, I think it will be a case of how much is worth while and barely half an hours work wont come into it at all.

You will have to factor in travel money, but even then I think you will struggle.
A professional groom is probably your way forward, but I suspect that will be at least £10 a day.

Can you not ask the other liveries? They may appreciate the work.

My sympathies. I was in a similar situation at my last yard. It felt like a huge issue for someone else just to hang up a haynet. :(

I moved yards (not just over that) and at my current yard, there's a nice young woman who will turn out/bring in/give hay and water for £2, or "do" for the whole day for £5. But she's here already seeing to other horses.

Also, the other liveries are great about helping each other so I never have to worry, which is just as well as I work 24 hour shifts. :o
