i am wondering what you think she is worth both now and if i kept her til spring,

15.3 TB mare 8yrs old,
Hacks alone or in company,
she is an exracer and is ROR registered,
good basic flatwork (come spring we hope to be doing lateral work and would like her to be working at elementary at home)
lovely jump has jumped 3ft with rider at home and loose schooled over 1.10m and 2ft3 clear at comps (by spring we hope this to be 2ft9 to 3ft unaffiliated)
very sweet laid back mare on the ground good to do everything to (clip, box, shoe etc)
snaffle mouthed for everything (in a NS loose ring lozenge bit)
she has been up the gallops, on the beach for long hacks been right beside busy roads.

the bad bits is she used to rear and she hasn't done this since i have sent her to be reschooled, my instructor has said she does it when she doesn't understand and they aren't nasty only once has she gone vertical and never since. she does need a confident rider who is gonna tell her whats what otherwise she will rule the roost when ridden.

i had someone come and see her for loan and i asked for her honest feedback on my mare (decided there and then she wasn't the right horse for her which was fine) and she said

actually i thought she was lovely. a lot of the horses i have been to see don't seem that interested in a new person. your mare was very interested and wanted to say hello and know who i was which is a very good thing. i thought she was very nicely put together and very smart. you are obviously doing her proud. i thought she had nice manners and plenty of character. she was cheeky to ride but only in as much as pushing the boundaries, i wasn't worried she was going to do anything horrid. i always think the most you can ask from a horse is their co-operation and it's up to them if they give it to you or not!! she certainly has a jump on her and has a want to jump. i thought she was a lovely little horse.

i think she is beautiful!
Im not sure of an exact prcie as she has many plus's but the used to rear thing is a little bit of a turn off, as it means its in her to do it and you wont know if she will do it again until she does sort of thing.....
however hopefully the reschool worked miracles and she will never do it again!

Id maybe look and compare adverts!

lucy, i have looked at comparative ads but they vary so much some horses like her are advertised at £600 but others at £6000, its a total minefield out there.

She's nice but nothing really special (don't mean that in a horrible way - she's just not olympic standard) and therefore not worth the big bucks for a serious competition horse, but would excell at riding club level, which is all many people want to do.

She is however a TB and that puts a huge number of people off, not least because she's quite fine and not up to carry a bigger rider (there's a lot of them about nowadays

)

Right now, being winter and horrible, she's probabably sell for #2500 easily enough. Come spring, with more competition experience (and maybe a hunt or two under her belt?) I think she'd go for #3500.

I agree with Kalibear that between £2500 and £3500 but personally I always would rather sell a horse for less to a really good home than get the big bucks and risk it being a comodity. When I had to sell my TBx affiliated chap I found a local family with a horse mad 16 yr old boy who rode him for 2 months before buying him - they tried him at shows, lessons, in the lorry and hacked him out several times a week and developed a great relationship. They still have him now 6 yrs on and he is so happy and now the Mum and sister ride him. It is so hard finding the right home but these people found me through my instructor which is always a good way to find out what people are really about.

She looks stunning and I'm sure if the new owner built a relationship and put the groundwork in then her confidence in them would make her far less likely to rear. You need to be honest as you are and find a really genuine person.

Good luck
