Am I missing something? Why have the H&H latest news people decided to include an article about a racehorse dying on a track in the latest news. Racehorses collapse and die on our british racetracks every year. So do horses with heartattacks, horses that break limbs, horses that shatter fetlocks, break necks and backs, horses whose tendons rupture, and every kind of unimaginable horrific death in between.

http://www.horsedeathwatch.com/ for more information on the death toll on our british racetracks.

Warning this link has an image some people may find distressing

I don't really see what the problem with them reporting it is??

And i'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong but weren't some races suspended in Australia due to too many deaths?

Just seems incredible to me that they report a death of a horse in Melbourne and yet right under their noses on our british tracks are horses dying every day through much worse injuries which are completely ignored by the press and never mentioned. Its rather like reporting that someones pet dog has died in Outer Mongolia, very sad to the family involved but of what interest to anyone else, when thousand of dog die every day anyway????

I do agree - if it had been a famous horse, or if the jockey had been badly injured or something it may have made sense as to why they reported it, but I cant see why that particular horse received such coverage

Not saying its a bad thing, but hundreds of horses die the same way each year on UK racecourses and gallops and pass relatively undetected...
