I have just taken over one of my mum's miniature shetlands as a companion for my older horse.

Pony is 12yo and 32ins, and has quite a thick set build - not fat, just has a lot of bone!, as opposed to the daintier types (palomino of 'Firth' breeding, if anyone's interested!). I plan to worm them both with Equest Pramox but I'm trying to see if I could get away with one tube for both.

My 14hh Arab x mare comes in at just over 400kg on the weigh tape, but a lot of people say these tend to overestimate weight - without access to a weighbridge it is all I have to go at! The dentist estimated her as 375kg which is possible as she has a very broad ribcage which would affect tape measurement.

Tube provides 575kg worth of dosage - am I pushing it with only 175kg's worth for Shetland? Mum just used one tube per three ponies!

Titchy who is 32" tall shares a paramox with my 14hh paint horse. I estimated he weighed about 100-120kg (comparing him to a sheep!!) and he is lean racing fit condition. Yours could be a bit heftier.

I have a miniature shetland x fallabella, 33inches and is 7 years old, she weighs about 105kg. She is quite fine though and not 'chunky' like a shetland.

I was more worried there wouldn't be enough! That's great, from what you have described yours as I would say she shouldn't be more than 175kgs so will just share the tube between them both. Excellent! Thanks all!
