I'm looking into getting a youngster but not sure what to do insurance wise as it will be a companion for my old boy for a while and just in a field. What would be the best thing to do? And if insurance is the way to go then whats the rough cost and which company is best?

My 2yo is about £55 a month with Scottish Equestrian. Had a couple of big claims as a yearling so that has bumped it up a little.

I would also agree they deserve more buddies. Mine has 8 ‘uncles’ that all take turns in tolerating his nonsense 🤣 He is the youngest but there are a few in the 3-5 age bracket.

Mine is £45 per month but I agree with the others. Youngsters need playmates. Mine are out with two oldies for discipline/education but they have each other to play with as well.

I can tell you what a 3.5 year old was £60 per month roughly

It will depend on how much the youngster is worth and what you want it insured for. A youngster is not a good companion for a older horse. It needs friends of its own age really.
