What is the best thing about your Riding Club?

I think they have to be inclusive - welcome all sorts, on all sorts of horses and ponies, at all levels. Nothing worse than clubs that look down on hairy cobs, or adults on ponies, or novices, or people that don't jump, or whatever the equine faux pas may be! As long as people muck in and have fun together, that's the point of clubs to me.
Then for me, after the atmosphere, the next thing is they have to actually DO something! Training, fun events, competitions, etc.
Be interested on other people's views though!

Yes, I agree :)

A nice committee .... Ideally not relations of each other!

Various lessons ie not focusing on the one discipline , good instructors and also little fun days added in- games or a hack and you can even do the hack in aid of charity .

What fun days does yours do?

I've made so many friends at Riding Club, and on the whole everyone is really supportive of each other! It's as much of a social event as a training opportunity/competition. We've just had our Area Dressage and an awful lot of time was spent sat at picnic tables/in people's lorries etc. I had a panic as ended up taking two horses but only one white saddlecloth, but within minutes of putting a plea on the book of face I had three different people saying they would bring one for me to borrow! :D

Friendship has been the biggest thing for me too :) we are a small group but the horses are all happy, we can hitch a trailer and visit each other's yards and take advantage of different hacking, and we do stuff together on a casual not 100% horse centric basis. Sometimes it's lunch together to chat over what shows we're going to during the year, otherwise we pile into someone's house and have a drink while cleaning tack (surprisingly effective!). We have a FB group where we can share those small horsey victories or ask things. If anything should ever happen I trust everyone in the group 100% to take care of the situation sensibly. Wouldn't exchange them for the world!

The quality of instructors is one of the main benefits of my RC and also the venues where rallies are held are excellent.

We also do lots of social things, BBQs, trips and visits, non mounted clinics such as sports psychology, treasure hunts either on horses or bikes so everyone can be involved.

Our social events unfortunately don't happen as much now but we used to have fun days in summer where you had a lesson in the morning, BBQ then out for a hack which was usually held at someone's yard. Also the likes of the AGM is a nice sociable evening with buffet put on etc
