Equine louse powder or Sevin powder.

Dust this all over and all through the coat and use as directed. Frontline and baths dont work on lice unless you can get Sablene and can do it up to three times a day for a week.

Use Coopers afterwards as your fly repellent and that does help keep lice at bay.

Remember you will also need to treat anything that has come into contact like rugs, brushes and other horses.

Hi there
Our old tb had lice a couple of weeks ago i used a whole tin of louse powder on him and repeated as reccomended.
He got some relief from the itching the following day but by the next day he was scratching again on anything he could fined. I was horrified to find they were still alive

i rang the vet in the end and they reccomended coopers fly repellant or front line. I opted for the front line, its quite expensive 35.00 for 250ml, but it did the trick, it really upset me the state he was getting himself in to, so i wasnt too bothered about the cost.
Good luck, hope you get rid of the little buggars

and apparantly they only live for a couple of days on the rugs, i doused the rugs with powder as well, there wasnt a problem. They only live on the horse i suppose cause thats the feed sorce

have heard of people recommend Frontline but have never used it myself, i always bathed with Dermoline Insecticidal Shampoo then used Barrier louse powder on horse and also treated rugs and removed bedding and covered stable with Battles louse powder -(not for use directly on horse) and made sure every horse was examined and treated if needed and it never failed!!
