A friend of mine has 4 acres of paddocks which she now wants to rent out. What is the going rate for renting grazing? (We're in Suffolk) I said I'd pick the helpful HHOers brains!! Is there a lack/abundance of rentable grazing? Just trying to gauge opinion and whether anyone would actually want to rent it etc.

I rent out a 3 acre field with its own water supply for £20 per week - we are on the shrop/welsh border.

I can't comment on the market for grazing in your area, but don't imagine I would have a problem renting mine out if I lost the current tenant.

HI

I have paid £15 per week per horse for renting 16 acres!(There were 3 horses)

And I have paid £15 per week for use of a 3 acre field for as many horses as I liked(I had two).

Both had running water and both had shelters/stables. I was probably lucky.

If they have exclusive use and its got running water and shelter I would charge £20-£25 per week ie and they get rid of manure heap etc etc ....If you are expected to get rid of the manure heap charge a bit more. I would ask for the money in advance ie a month in advance.

Hope that helps

Next door to my yard is a 2.5 acre field divided into 3 with 2 stables, hay store & mains water to tap. Currently being rented out for £300pcm & max limit is 3 equines on it. Renters have contract for 2 or 3 yrs & have to maintain land & repair/replace damages. Owners could have let it out several times over at that price too.
