I am about to have an electric fence put in and the electrician is asking questions (for which I'm glad!) but I can't find the answers online, lots of talk about volts, but it's my understanding the amp is what can harm or even kill a horse or pedestrian, so any help would be really appreciated! thanks

Whaaatttt???? An electrician is saying basically that he hasn't a clue?

Though I have to say it doesn't surprise me, as this happened to me too, I went to a farm outlet and purchased a mains electric fencer, and needed some work doing to connect up a mains plug/unit from the stable block to where the unit would plug-in, in the field adjacent. The guy was totally ignorant of what was required, voltage etc., it beggared belief TBH.

Do yourself a favour and get another electrician on the job! The one you have wouldn't exactly inspire anyone's confidence............ OMG

It will need a 13 amp socket and most units will have a 3 amp fuse in the plug also most likely an internal fuse which is the input, it has nothing to do with output which is measured in KVs and joules. To be fair to them I suspect he was actually wanting to know if it was a standard domestic 13 amp socket or not which is straight forward . A high proportion of electrician never need to know about energisers.
