...you put on your horse in winter?

In/out, clipped/unclipped.

Mine both live out all year round, the heaviest rug Lance ever wears is a 250g, its all he needs.

Beau on the other hand wears a 370g Rambo Plus, but Im considering getting him the 450g Premier Equine one if it gets really bad.

They are unclipped but Beau doesnt really get a winter coat!

In the worst of winter William will have a heavyweight on as well as another medium weight id imagine! But he is an old man now and drops weight VERY easy.

Only one of ours gets anything heavier than a summer (no fill) rug, and that is our old boy who lives out 24/7 and now gets a 200g rug.

I have three weights of the premier rugs
They are great. The 450g full neck one is lovely and keeps them toastie warm.
They are nice and deep to so would suit your big lad

Hope you are all ok

I was thinking this same thing earlier, my tb mare has on a Rambo duo (combined weight of 400g) and tonight she didnt feel warm under it. I've put a thin underblanket under it. Its 1 degree just now and has to go down to -5!!

I think if it gets down to -10 she will have a stable rug under her duo, everyone will probably think she is over rugged but she really does feel the cold.

Both live out and are blanket clipped. 360g is the heaviest they will get to wear and only if it get to freezing or below.

I haven't survived a winter as a horse owner yet, but the heaviest turnout rug I have for George is a 220g high neck and the heaviest stable is a 250g no neck. He is out all day and in at night and has a belly/bib clip - hope this will be ok, but then we are down south and you're up north!

My lad will have a 400g rug on when it gets really cold, sister's gelding will have 350g max and the welshie has a 200g for if it gets very cold and nasty but will wear a lw (no fill) most of the time - she's still naked atm and has a huge fluffly coat! None of them are clipped and they all live out.
