What is the minimum age these days for children at riding schools?

A friends wants to take his child for riding lessons but she is only five, is there a minimum age that riding schools take now?

I believe the minimum is five. Our local riding school would lead around the land at 4 but lessons start at 5....

It does vary, most of the yards round us will take them from 4 or 5, but often say parents have to lead them till a certain age.

I thinks its 4 for insurance purposes

We take them from 5, our insurance allows this but recommends 8. I know a few yards that won't take them to 8 and some that will take them much younger at 2 or 3 but some of these ones are definitely flouting their insurance conditions.

A yard near me takes them at 18 months I think - if not, somewhere around that!!!!

Think it's purely dependant on terms of insurance.
