I am looking into getting a trailer.....and whilst i would love to have a really nice brand spanking new one....my budget means that i am realistically looking at a structually sound rice double one.
Some are advertised as structually sound but with the origional floor....i think i would be tempted to replace this with an aluminium one or a mesh floor with a double wooden floor over the top.

Does anyone know what very rough price bracket i would be looking at to replace a floor in a trailer so that i know roughly what a trailer with a replaced floor would stand me at!

Bit of a how long is a piece of string i know! thanks guys

I bought an old rice trailer ( actually I fell in love with the old-fashioned wooden partition:rolleyes:)....the floor was ok-ish but seeing as we were planning on doing it up we ripped it all out.

Time/weather means it still isnt finished....but roughly about £500 should do it, including your matting.

I did mine recently (that's a lie- OH did it while I watched ;)) and in materials cost around £150, OH welded extra steel around the frame and we used 2" thick planks with rubber matting (free) on top. He's quite handly like that.

Benson21 who did your floor for you (I think we are both in Kent!) I'm thinking about getting my wooden lorry floor replaced this year

Hi, I had my old WOODEN rice trailer floor replaced many MANY years ago (v.good friend did work). He welded extra supports across the gaps then we used scaffold planks (got used ones from a scaffoled company for v.little) running front to back with no joins but left gaps (small) between the boards for drainage then put a full Rice hardwood floor on top (think this cost about £100/£150 ish).
I always used straw bedding as the wet just drained away really quickly so it didn't sit on the wood & rot it and it was swept up to the front with any yuk removed every use.
Sold trailer about 7 years after this & floor was still like new (did have top doors at back to keep out worst of weather).
I'm no on the hunt for another one !!
