what is the smell in hifi lite?

just started feeding this as an alternative to the original one as shop didnt have it. and it smells lovely! also horse seems to think it tastes good as he's been eating it all up where he would usually fuss about his supplements. does anyone know what's in it to make it smell so nice? i just cant think what it is. it smells like cake mixture, or vanilla.

I've just started feeding this myself and I can't say I have noticed the smell....shall have to stick my nose in the bag tonight to see.


I think it has herbs in it which is probably what you can smell

Not sure what it is but it smells like vanilla to me too. I've fed it for years and it's only recently changed to this smell, the sugar levels etc are all the same as previously though.

I think it was posted on here recently that Dengie are now coating it in vanilla

Yes it is coated in vanilla, but apparently always has been My feed merchant managed to speak to a Dengie rep & a batch did get coated in too much vanilla, so some will smell much stronger. My most recent bag is back to normal now tho!

i have a batch of it too and I did call to ask. It's just a small mistake. It doesn't taste any diferent and that's all I care about...

Although I did think of just sitting in it, it smelled so nice!!

I saw this post earlier & glossed over it, but having just come inside from feeding & needing to open a new bag of Dengie I came back to this post..... Mine smells much sweeter, but the chaff itself is much greener than usual - More like Alfa-A, it also seems to be chopped a lot finer, softer.
