Can anyone explain this phrase to me?! I have just read it in a magazine article and not quite sure what it is - can anyone enlighten me?!

oh interested! I wear white jodpurs for dressage and SJ competing, but beige for eventing.. wonder where that puts me!.

lol I am really not sure if it was a wise move to drop the "JA" and just leave the "BS" on that one.

I would take "white jodhpurs" to mean affiliated/serious type competitors

I would take it to mean those who have no idea and who wear white jodhpurs and white gloves in a misguided effort to look like they know what they are doing, but maybe that is because I know someone like that!

Don't know, don't care. All I can say is I just HATE white jodphurs full stop (and canary ones too). If I'm competing it's always beige for me! Okay, so I'm an untrendy stick-in-the-mud - and so what?!

I *think* there are two definitions depending on context

It may to the "all the gear, no idea" clan who trunk around in cream/white/beige/pale jods (often complete with ironed shirt  ) in an effort to look "horsey" in situations where any actual riders wouldn't dream of it (ie anywhere other than at a competition where you are actually competing   :p )

OR -on our livery yard- it refers to anyone who can get away with wearing such ridiculously impractical colours whilst around the horses because they don't actually do any work - typically because they get Mummy/Nanny/Groom/Hubby to do it  These people are met with equal amounts of jealousy and contempt :p :D

Haha, I hate canary jods too, and dislike white jodhpurs :p

I always thought it meant the girls that put on their white jodhpurs and boots and spurs and walk around big events like Badminton, Hickstead etc hoping that someone will think they are riding there!!

What, like a certain celebrity? ;)
