Haha! I went to a XC once and forgot my bridle!

I was all set to go round in a headcollar and some kind soul lent me a snaffle bridle (phew!) I would have done it in the headcollar, as well - I wasn't going all that way to not go round!

Not to an event, but to a SJ session, took 2 horses for my boss, one 16hh ISH, one 12hh pony.

Forgot the saddle for the pony, there was no way the others would fit, so ended up doing training session bareback, we were jumping 3ft quite happily, but couldn't do much trot work as was b****y uncomfortable!

well i did once forget hat ... and seeing as Ive got a v big head was not fun squeezing into sisters hat that is so small made my head look like a mushroom when i took it of , big red ring left on head for over an hour !!te he

I have forgotten boots (mine) and a hat in the same day. I had to put an urgent request out over the tannoy (sp?) for some kind person to lend me the items forgotten. They did and we came 2nd in a class of 34. Not a bad day all round! I did ask if i could keep the boots as i thought they were lucky!!!

I did forget my saddle once....it was a show about 2 hours away from home but luckily someone else from the yard was on their way so brought it with them!
Oh then another time, a show even further away I forgot my hat and my show shirt, had to borrow sweaty ones from a girl I didn't even know, was very thankful but never did that again!!

My boots! And as I have well, 'chunky' legs I didn't have a hope in hell of borrowing any! Fortunately I found someone I knew slightly and she popped my neddy round one of the classes and came fifth! Not bad on a horse she had never set eyes on before and it cheered the horse up too!

Long boots...thought i was soo organised for once and got all the way to the show, just entering the car park and it suddenly dawned on me *crap no boots lol. Luckily I had my jod boots on so just had to borrow some gaiters from somone lol

When I was a kid, our RC went to the SJ champs in Malvern, and I was being given a lift by another team member, when we got there I realised I had left all my show stuff (Hat,boots, jods) in our wagon, lady in the B&B was my manky jods, grandad went to Woolworths in the town and got me a new white shirt, and I borrowed the rest!!!!!!! Photos are really funny as nothing fits properly!

I've forgotten a saddle and my show jacket!!! Not to the same event. Luckily, I was able to beg and borrow on both occasions (see, us horsey people aren't all snooty!!!!).

i've forgotten a girth - in the days of cotton girths i washed it and hung it up to dry and promptly set off without it....managed to borrow one when i got there tho!

i used to hunt with an old guy who was immense fun - completely off his rocker, and had bad knees so very little control over his cob. rosie just did what she wanted and Dick had to go along with it.... except one day he turned up for hunting about an hour late (very unusual) and it eventually emerged that he had got half way to the meet and realised that he hadn't got the trailer on the vehicle. when he got back to the yard there was poor rosie stood in the trailer looking very confused! oh how we laughed- so hard we nearly fell off! and he always used to get on by climbing up the bull bars on his 4x4 pick up, which later became renamed the 'Dick-up truck' by one of the kids that hunted with us.

I used to groom for an international eventer over in Belgium, he was a v.strict perfectionist (not necc a bad thing) and a very scary man (although I did learn alot from him!) We had travelled to a showjumping comp in france with four horses and I managed to pack the wrong girth for every single horse!! needless to say I was in extreme bad books, to this day I'm still grateful to the lovely french man that had every girth going on his lorry!!

Not as good as his last groom though who actually did forget a horse for a three day event!! She claimed he never mentioned said horse was supposed to be going........ And got away with it!!

We have forgotten ponies twice, once we were taking 3 but for somereson only put 2 in the box./ When we got back the other was standing ,tied up travelling boots on! And the other time I was taking a shetty I had never taken out before, and dad put the wrong one in!(according to him one black shetty is the same as another!)

Those were both when I was young, recently we had to go back to get my hat!

went hunting with someone else and my grandparents bought my show jacket apart from they got lost on the way !!! then at the same show my silly horse broke his bridle so i had to borrow a new headpiece from someone !!!

I think thats it so far !!

My girth and my hat both at the same show. Too far to go back to get them so I just rode round bareback with no hat till someone told me off then went home.
Was an expensive trip for nothing as I had to hire the transport too!!

So glad I'm not the only one who's forgotten a girth!

Was v grateful to the kind person who was a livery at the yard where the comp was, who lent me one!
Was also v lucky it fitted, as it was a dressage comp in the days before I had a dressage saddle, and my chap has a v deep girth, so had to find 54" long girth!

I'm sure one day I'll forget the horse! He's so quiet when travelling that you wouldn't know he was there anyway, so I'm picturing getting to a show and finding he's not in the lorry!
