Just wondering if you can tell me what this plant is please?

We have noticed it growing quite a lot in our field this year, and are wondering what it is and whether we should be worried for the horses.

We keep the horses on an arable farm, could it be some form of crop?

Thanks :)

Shall be keeping an eye on this post! Have just spent a while pulling the same up out the fields we use. Couldn't find out what it is so pulled it just incase, fortunatly it comes out roots and all fairly easily!

Sorry had a good look and nothing looking like it in my field/plant book, it has a good section on poisonous plants and couldn't see anything like it, so hopefully nothing dangerous. Maybe another HHO member will recognise it.

The plant looks like two plants in my book: Atriplex patula and Chenopodium album. It is a big family of plants and lots of them look alike. some like salty water and have more succulent leafs. it seeds very well. I have never heard of it poisoning a human or animal. Sorry, don't know the english names!
Garden saying: "1 year seed, ten year weed"

Looking in my arable weeds of europe book it does look like fathen or simular i.e The Goosefoot family. All i remember when we were doing our weed collection we all went round saying 'get your fat hen off my cocksfoot'. As far as i know it is o/k.
