I am presuming it would attach to the shoe of the lame horse. Perhaps if the horse has a bruised sole?
Correct me someone if I am wrong.

It looks like you can adjust it to elevate the weight of the horse off of the sole, as the others have said for a bruised or damaged sole, just a guess?
Where are the Farriers when you need them!

Turn the bolt clockwise and it elevates the hoof at the rear, at a guess
