My friend wants to buy a cob. She has had a long time away from riding (although she keeps a retired pony at livery) and she wants to get back into it by buying a safe and sane horse. She has been told by her YO that, wait for it......... cobs aren't allowed on the yard because she (YO) has to look at the bloody things all day and she doesn't want to look at something ugly! Can you believe it?
In my opinion the YO, who is also a dealer, is trying to make my friend buy one of her own horses. Since she only sells competition horses, mainly Dutch & German WBs, and my friend only wants to hack out and do little local shows any horse that the YO tries to sell her would be completely unsuitable.
I think that my friend should look for a new yard for her old pony.
