She is perfectly sound in all paces on the lunge and also when trotted up. However, when I ride, she is perfectly fine until I canter. She feels fine when cantering, but when coming back to the trot she starts trotting almost sideways, like she is pushing her bum to one side. More so on the right rein than the left too. Had saddle fitter out very recently, but teeth are due and dentist is coming this week. I dnt know whether to get the vet or the physio up, or both.

Does anyone have experience of the same thing, what could it be? Worried :(

Could be anything. But, as ever, if you are concerned call the vet.

It may be worth someone looking at you riding first to ensure it's not you that's causing the problem.

Yeah I was thinking maybe it's me, I could get my instructor to ride her to see if she does the same thing. I actually hope it's me and not her.

maybe you're gripping her tighter with one leg for the downward transition and causing her to 'yield' over? I would call physio and if physio says nothing wrong call vet. Good luck xxx

yes, could be anything and i would get her check over, but my first thought was as sophie bailey... it is quite possibly you causing this... get yourself to a good physio for a check or a sports massage therapist

Have you checked to see whether she does this when you lunge her on a large circle? Might be worth seeing how she is without a rider, and also so you can get a better sense of what is happening. Good luck and I hope you can get to the bottom of this issue soon.

Without seeing her and just a guess but could it be that she not going forward coming down into the transition and she's finding it hard to balance her self ....... in other words her back end is over taking her front end.

How are her downward transitions on the lunge ?
If the above is fine, you might be inadvertently twisting your body and changing your weight causing her quarters to swing
