Have just found out that the people that took my horse that i was selling have no intention of buying him. They seemed so nice so i gave them a maximum of a year to come up with the money. They promised to try to get half the money by january but so far they have paid nothing they moved him without telling me and i just tried to call them to find out what they are planning to do only to find that all 3 numbers that i have for them are no longer in service so did some research and found the stud that he was moved to and spoke to the owner, who they also work for and she tells me that there is no way that they are buying him as they are broke and that there was no way that they could have ever paid the agreed price. She says that he is a lovely boy and that i should have no trouble finding someone for him but what am i supposed to do in the meantime? I now have a horse that i need to sell immediately, no tack ( I sold mine when they took him) no money ( i mean not one penny) to pay for him if i take him back, and no where to put him. What the bloody hell do i do? Why do people take you for a ride, basically they wanted a lovely horse free for a year, who nows what they've done to him schooling wise?
Even if i could take him back i'm not well and i have a 1 year old son to look after and no time to spend on him like he deserves.
My god i'm so mad, I'm so angry at myself for giving this person the benefit of the doubt. I thought she was nice, i even agreed a lower price as for me home was more important than price. I could just scream.
What would you do?

Sorry to hear about the difficult situation you are in. Do you think they will keep paying for his livery costs until he is sold? I guess if you are forced to sell straight away there are limited options - drop the price as much as it takes to sell him asap, or maybe, if you know anyone reputable and good that you would be comfortable with, consider selling to a dealer? I haven't used one myself but perhaps other people here can advise.

You're lucky to have found him, there was a post the other day about how people just disappear with horses on loan/hire purchase type agreements!
I would advertise him immediately and try and sell him directly from the yard he is currently at, could you agree with the YO to pay her the livery costs once he is sold?
Best of luck to you, that is an awful situation!!

Thanks for the advice i'm not sure what i can do, the yard he is at is actually a stud farm he's only there cos they work for them. Even if they did agree to sell him for me who's to say how long it would take and therefore how much could i end up owing? I'm only selling him as i need the money and cos i can't give him the time he deserves, but at the end of the day i still need to get something for him, i also still owe some of the money i borrowed to buy him. What an idiot i am.

Also i'm very lucky i've found him it's only because of a passing comment that was made about the mum's job that i did. I can assure you i wouldn't have stopped til i did and then i would have happily murdered them!!!!

Oh dear =[ At least you found him. What's he like?

Could you put an advert up or try local yards that do sale livery that will just take a percentage of what you sell him for? Save initial costs in the meantime from livery and what not.

Poor you, I know what you are going through, I did not sell but loaned, now have him back, he could not come home, but luckily the next door riding school said he could go in their field, only for a relativley small amount of money.

If you do not mind him not having all of lives luxerys for a while, especially now the good weather is coming, maybe you can rent some grass, around here it is around £40 a month, where he was taken before I took him home this just included fencing and water, but alowed me the time to get my head together
