Not long in from putting Missy and tommy out in the field, Decided to take Missy out first as she gets excited if she sees tommy in the field first, So put on my hi fiz jacket and stuck some hi fiz onto Missy , As we have to cross quite a busy main road . Anyways down the lane and onto the main road, kept missy into the inside of me and slowed traffic down using hand signals as you do, was nearly there ( gate of the field is about 100 yards or so ) Anyways traffic behind me was slowing and coming to a stop , while I was just about to cross her over the car behind the mini that was behind me decided he was going to overtake (driver was an old man ) Proceeded to over rev and sending missy into abit of a spin, I put my hand up and asked him to stop as I was nearing the gate , now bearing in mind all the other traffic including the tractor that was coming the opposite way had stopped also ( thank god ) He was inches from hitting her, as I said I asked him to stop , got missy settled and went to walk her on when the stupid man

came again did exactly the same thing , this time I just lost it and shouted at him to stop , as it was a young horse and i was nearing the field and if he could just wait and not rev his banger up into behind my horses backside .
Eventually I got into the field and was shaking , was so angry at him and scared that he was going to hit her

What the feck is it with people ? All the other traffic had stopped , was he just completely stupid and blind ??
I gave clear signals as all the other traffic had seen and understood what I was asking of them , so why didnt this stupid man not ???

don't think I'll be putting any of my horses in that - they don't need any more fiz.

Poor you though - glad nothing too bad happened - some people, eh?

What worries me is that there seem to be more and more posts of this nature. Seems people just don't care but Even if they don't care about the horse they should be aware of what damage a horse can cause to their 'precious' vehicle.
 
Personally I would be reporting the idiot to the police if you could remember the number plate while staying on horsey spinning around! Even if they can't charge him with anything, just having him given a b@ll@cking might make him think more next time.
 
They want to run us off the roads!! Simple as!! There is a small number that want to make it as terrifying as possible so that it is deemed too dangerous and then we will be banned from riding on A roads, then B roads, then roads all together and restricted to lanes, until the cyclists complain more (i am a cyclist to, but there are some out there who think horses shouldn't be allowed on paths!!)

Lets see whos laughing when technology and oil go tits up and we have to walk/ride everywhere again!! ha!

But thats just my view

I did notice quite a few posts of this nature also , and yes it is very worrying that some people just dont give 2 craps what is going to happen if these type of people continue to drive this way , something is going to happen sooner rather than later I just hope its not me , Really wish I didnt have to cross that bloody road but have no other choice unfortunately .
 
Sorry I wasnt riding , I was leading inhand a 16hh yearling , she is well mannered can be abit bolshy when putting her out into the field but I like to get her into the field as soon as possible as the gate is at the main road .

Unfortunately I didnt get his reg plate , too busy concentrating on Missy and hanging on to her .
 
If you give him 'verbal' you can be done by the Police
so I hope you got a descriptiong and number plate

It's almost become obligatory to go out in 2s now so that whoever gets hassle from a car driver has another person there to take a photograph on their mobile - which of course the Police will ignore as they did in another post regarding a photo of a suspicious person who knew that rugs had been stolen from a field....and the Police weren't interested
 
Me being verbal yes I was ... by shouting at him saying " STOP , CAN YOU JUST WAIT A MINUTE PLEASE FOR GOODNESS SAKE , IM TRYING TO GET THIS YEARLING INTO THE FIELD " ( this was the second time I asked ) and I thought I was being nice .

I also said , " Can you not see all other traffic has stopped " ?

So if thats verbal and the police can do me for that , then go ahead bring it on lol .

Unfortunately , My friend amanda works and there is no one else to go out with me, I cant do it in the evening when hubbie comes home as its obviously dark and cant do it in the morning as its also dark and any later than 7.30 to 9am is a really busy time .

I just wish there was something that could be done to teach drivers to respect horses on the road . Obviously nothing I can do about the situation that occured today.
 
I think you have a perfect right to give someone a mouthful if they are being as ignorant as that. Someone I know lost a 3 year old that she was leading down the road (a country lane) to turn it out (much the same scenario as yours). An articulated lorry came zooming up right behind them despite her hand signals to slow down. The horse freaked out, threw itself all over the place, fell on the road and broke two legs. The terrible outcome needs no explanation, a tragic waste of a beautiful, extremely well-bred young horse just because of some driver's pig ignorance.
 
Sorry you had such a nasty experience. Just can't understand why people are so impatient. I mean, a couple of minutes out of a lifetime?
 
Lets not take it too personally, these peole drive like idiots all the time, they shouldn't be on the road "period" , if their not on their mobile or sat nav or sound system or shaving or putting make up on or lighting a fag or fiddling with their partners anatomy they just drive like a total T*** right up your arse on a wet slippy road in the dark.
