If you are not lucky enough to be able to take your dogs to work with you, what are their routines, how long are they left for etc?

Thank you

My dog bimbles around the yard with me to do his ablutions from 6 - 7 am, he then goes back to bed for a couple of hours on his own while I go to work. Mum then collects him from mine about 9 am and takes him to do her horses then home with her for the afternoon before he comes back to me in the evening.

Works really well and if I didn't have mum I would get another dog as a companion for him.

I'm pretty lucky that my Mum can take my dog with her to the stables.

Routine as follows:
8am - Babalou goes to the yard and helps with morning feed (removing any excess from the buckets as he goes

). Follows Mum around the yard as she mucks out.
10am - 12pm - Is tied up in the feed room (as he is prone to wander off) while the racehorses go out exercise.
12.30pm - 1.30pm - Goes for a walk on the heath
2pm -5pm - At home with Mum
5pm - 6.30pm - Goes back to the yard for a run and again helps with evening feed!

I don't work days, except for my own business, that is boarding dogs, so I spend all day with my dogs, and the 2 nights I go into work, I take 2 of my dogs with me, and the rest stay home with OH.

Mine are let out at 6am - the lurcher and lab come to the yard with me at 6.45- the whippets glue themselves to the radiator and refuse to leave the house! return home at 7.30 - feed - I go to work at 8am, my mum then has them from 8am to 4pm when OH gets up (works nights) he takes them for a long run up the fields. I get home at 6pm and those who want to, come to the yard again. Mum lives next door and we have a big garden so they amuse themselves for most of the day - I wouldn't be happy leaving them all day on their own - but that's just my personal choice - not criticising those that do!

Otto is up and about between half 6 ish and 8am, then he is back in his crate whilst I work as he would be a terror at the yards! I get home at between 12-1pm then he spends the rest of the day with me, generally sleeping and eating with a walk thrown in for good measure!

Hopefully once he grows up a bit and is better trained

He will be able to come to work with me.

On the days I work - up and outside at 6.40, comes in has breakfast (6.45) and goes back to sleep until taken for a walk at 7.15. Back home for 7.45 I get ready for work, leave around 8.15 after letting (forcing) dog outside again. Then left to snooze quietly until about 5.30 when I return. These days it takes a while for my return to be noticed (v. elderly dog!) but then let out, fed and comes with me to yard.

As I say, an older dog, to whom sleep comes first. It wouldn't suit a puppy but it works for us. On the days when I'm home we both get up a little later.

I have an older dog too but essentially when I'm home he follows me around in the yard, up muck heaps and sits in the brook and we go for walks - on our own or with other livery dogs if they are around. When I'm at work he is either indoors if its cold and wet asleep somewhere (sofa, bed etc) and when the weather is nice he has the run of the utility room and garden which means he can get his chew from the postie!!
