And does it completely differ from the horse you have?

Like, if you find a horse by chance, completely not what you're looking for, and you realise that is THE horse even though it contradicts entirely from what you're looking for...

Mine, although he would be even more perfect if he didn't neigh throughout his dressage tests

My horse is perfect, if only he could have a pair of new hocks and no side bone.

I like greys, but its the personality which I am interested in. I like intelligence, a bit of cheek and I do not mind a bit of grumpiness. I like a horse with a sense of humour and a sense of self-preservation and spirit.

mine is the total opposite of what i thought was the perfect horse but turned out to be mine - however now he needs new hocks and its hard not knowing what the future will hold for him and thinking about having to try and find another one...

Beau most of the time!! Most people seem to agree on that. I regularly look at her baby sister and hope she turns out like Beau. It's hard living life with fingers crossed!!!! lol

I like spotties or roans, something a bit different. Mid weight, nice nature, (though Beau doesn't do fuss really) good solid paces and a big confident jump and I'm a happy bunny.

Mine would be perfect if....

-she had four new legs, minus splints and spavin
-she had a modicum of respect for human beings. i like them to be confident and think for themselves but she is one of the most arrogant horses I've ever met, she is scared of nothing and no one!

With a bit more schooling and confidence mine will be my perfect horse in every way
laugh.gif

My idea of a perfect horse would be a nearly bombproof hack, well schooled and able to do showing and dressage, non excitable, no vices or health problems, good to catch, shoe, box and in traffic. Able to jump a small course of jumps, be good to handle and have a cheeky character. Preferably be a cob or larger native of unusual colour.

I bought my pony (13 years ago, when I fitted her!!) purely out of pity
blush.gif
. We went to look at a lovely gorgeous gelding, 5yrs, 15.2hh
laugh.gif
with the hope that he would last me a while, at a dealers and I saw Kirzty in the end stable with a sprinkling of dirty straw on the floor, dusty mouldy hay and a filthy water bucket
frown.gif
. She looked so miserable and sad
frown.gif
. She had patches of fur missing where she had been rubbing herself against the door and looked awful!! But we bought her and after about 2/3 years (I know, it took a while
blush.gif
!!) I realised she really was the most perfect pony I could of ever had. We have such a strong bond and we trust each other so much
laugh.gif
. I still have her now and even though I don't ride her, only walkies in hand.
It was funny unloading her at my yard... the looks on peoples faces
grin.gif
! We went to look at this stunning dapple grey horse and came off the ramp with the scruffiest palomino pony you have ever seen
grin.gif

ETS My other horse Firl would also be perfect for me, but I bought her as a hunter and after one season with the local she was banned from any of thier meets
blush.gif
. She is nearly perfect though....
grin.gif

Mine would be perfect if he didn't....
Weave/box-walk if he has no company.
Drop weight instantly the temp drops.
Spook at a crisp packet at a distance of 5miles.
Go into show-off mode the day before and after a show.
Be 20 years old and only 14.3hh

But-he's perfect for me, even though OH thought I had gone demented when I said i wanted him, I just knew when I looked at the ad in the paper he was the one...even though the ad was... lets just say..a tad 'misleading'.....he looks and acts like a 5 year old and even though I wish he were 10 years younger so I could have more time with him, he's taught me so much....ooops, getting emotional now, best stop (sniffs into hankie)

Well each time I took her she got progressively more 'excited' until the last time when she

a) Reared upright at the meet whilst the Master was talking.
crazy.gif

b) Kicked a hound
blush.gif

c) Kicked the Masters Wifes' horse on the chest which resulted in stitches
mad.gif

d) Ran through a hedge, not over it
confused.gif

e) Barged past a whipper-in to get through a gate
shocked.gif

All in all it was not a good day

Is that where your name comes from?

Ed would be my perfect horse now if he was 20 years younger (24yro now) and around 15hh (he is 13.1).
He is quirky to ride and he can either knock your confidence or send it sky high, I trust him with my life and wish I had done more with him before retiring him.

I am undecided whether Stylo will be my perfect horse or not. He is soooo laid back it is unbelivable and the kindest gent you would come across. I just wish he had better feet and more confidence especially on the roads.
He is the biggest mummy's boy ever!

I look for something that is safe and sensible but will test your ability to ride them, something that you must ride correctly to get results, something that isn't dangerous in any aspects, around 15hh, something to do dressage on and maybe a few jumps, and something I could have fun on.

Actually, yes one of the Whipper-ins came up with that name during the day
blush.gif
and as I really dislike her reg name Demolition Derby stuck!! Its quite fun at shows
grin.gif
! And yes, it was all in one day

OMG Demolition Derby, that is funny!

I have had some lovely horses, but my old 14:2 has to be my perfect horse. I got her when I was 7 and she was steady and looked after me. When I got to about 12 or 13 and wanted to gallop about and hurtle over jumps, do mounted games etc she loved it and always got stuck in. She was fizzy and funny, but never ever dangerous. She didnt know how to buck or rear, but as an ex polo pony had a ferocious turn of speed and could turn on a sixpence. But equally you could put a 5 year old on her and she would look after them and make sure they didnt lose their balance. I loved her so much and miss her still.

Oldmare, other than the Polo bit, you've just described Merry to a T. She was amazing and I would do anything to have her back.
frown.gif

Brandy would be perfect if she was:
- a hand taller (15.2hh)
- only 1% as loopy
- less of a conformational Van Gogh
- had four good hooves, instead of three and one iffy one
- was fifteen years younger (5), or
- had actually been schooled in any form whatsoever before she was 14
- had brakes and steering (blame the lack of schooling)

I think this is my perfect horse:

Ideally I could do with him being a little bit smaller, and not quite so sensitive to reacting to things he sees on a hack, and stressing when he has to come in on his own - other than that he is a poppet

You have described our boy to a tee !
Grey - tick
Intelligence - tick
Cheek - tick tick
Grumpiness - tick tick tick
Sense of humour - tick tick tick tick (takes the piss out of me daily)

When do you want to pick him up ?

I love my thoroughbreds only problem is their feet. I had the perfect novice eventer but lost him as an 8yr old due to problems with his feet, now my current boy also 8yr old has developed pedalosteitis. Hey ho wouldn't swap him for the world except when he spins at the drop of a hat out hacking!!!!

My horse is my perfect horse, the reason I am going to struggle through uni to have him still there at the end of it all.

I wanted something bigger, about 16.2 and finer, but apart from that he is perfect. We go on 4 hour hacks alone, and he has been able to do something I never thought possible - given me my confidence back with jumping. He does a bit of everything at RC level and will go hunting this winter.

That's my idea of a perfect horse - a forward going but safe and sensible all rounder.

My perfect horse is ben, didnt realise it untill he went away, but thank god he came back, would have been the biggest mistake of my life.

He is so the horse for me couldnt ask for any more. Was being too bratty to realise it.

Taz was my perfect horse, except he was so screwed up he just couldn't cope with anything. If I'd got him a few years before though he would have been a superstar - he was big but very sensitive and light to ride, very sharp [a little too sharp really] but not at all strong, big paces, very powerful, and most importantly, he had a heart of absolute diamond.

A checklist of my ideal horse would probably be as follows:

15.3-16.2hh, light-middleweight, fairly compact build with a good shoulder and a well set on neck
Aged 5-10
Well schooled and balanced - very sensitive to hand and leg aids - forward going but not silly or strong.
Bold, honest jumper, happy to go off a long or a short stride if necessary
Relatively sensible to hack out - not stupid in traffic or excessively spooky
Most importantly, a fabulous temperament - the kind of horse you can really bond with and try its heart out for you, not try to pull dirty tricks.

Might be looking a long time for that one!
