My mare loves hurting herself all too often so I'm looking for some kind of leg protection for her back legs where she clips the inside of around the pastern.
I've seen pastern wraps and sports medicine boots etc but I don't know what is best or what type/brand to get. We only hack out so need something secure but not majorly expensive because they're likely to get ruined in a short period with mud and what not!

Appreciate any advice!

Thank you :)

A pastern wrap might be better for work. Medicine boots come a lot further up the leg and will overheat the tendons as well as providing a lovely place for mud, grit etc to work its way up and rub. Would a doughnut boot work better? (Sometimes called a sausage boot.) You only need one and there is less boot for mud / grit etc to get under.

That's what I was thinking and I was worried about it rubbing after last winter's fiasco with the brushing boot.
I thought about a sausage boot but concerned it doesn't give as much. Think I'll go for a pastern wrap! Thank you!
