I have a horse who I feel would really benefit from a couple of lunging sessions a week to get him working over his back and to get his head somewhere near where it ought to be. He lunges very nicely and I usually just put on side reins. However, I am wondering if there is something better to suit my purposes. I'd rather not spend 200 quid if at all possible. I am wondering chambon, harbridge etc.

What is everyone elses favourite combination of things to use?

i personally love the pessoa to lunge with It really gets the horse using its back and helps to make the hinds legs to come more under Think theyre about £80 but well worth the money as they can be adjusted to fit any horse

my medium dresage horse is lunged by me in a bridle with rains taken of and a lunge line. no whip just my voice. and i no shes done when she drops her head and uses her back. keep it simple and know your horse

Call me old fashioned, but I stick to my nice side-reins and the use of two lines on them to get them working properly. I don't 'do' these gadget pessoa's etc. find it teaches them to look pretty and buck nicely ;) lol

Hehe. This is usually me. Hence me asking about other options. He is a bit resistant to side reins and I'm struggling to get him to go forward into them. He just backs off from them and hollows.

Maybe try lunging with the two lines then? Then the one that passes behind them keeps them moving forwards and helps them to work properly over their backs and keeps them active.

I do but he's a lazy old goat and ignores the second line up his bum and the whip whistling around his ears! Blooming horse. I need a second person to chase him I reckon!
