Moon did her first intro 5 months after being broken in and had done one pc 2'6 event 2 weeks before. It wasnt overly sucessful because I got us eliminated for jumping the wrong sj course!! She went out the following week and performed very well.
She was exceptional though, she needed the challenge as she found things too easy so was quite naughty.
thanks for that, what heights were you jumping at pc levels?
Boss, had a look at moons page, wow you've done a fab job with her, she looks a very clever cookie, i dont think H could have gone straight into intro he could barely canter when i got him and has only just stopped growing!!
I did my first intro events on Fiddler having done a year of novice pony club eventing and some 3'3'' hunter trials and unaff/aff show jumping. He was working at prelim/novice level but i was an inexperienced 14yr old and he was a 7yr old learning on the job with a young rider!
Hattie did her first PN in her 5th year having on done one 2'6'' ODE but jumping happily round BSJA BNov.s and Prelim dressage. She started properly eventing in her 6th year after doing discovery BSJA, novice dressage and schooling XC at PN/occasionally novice level.
Mine was five and a half, nearly 6 when he did his first BE - having done some unaff SJ and one 2'9" hunter trial first. I wouldn't change what I did and he went Novice in his second season, but things were rather hairy for most of the first season!
I was doing intermediate RC level before going in at intro, but I only did 2 intro's to get the idea of BE and then went PN. However, my other horse did his first intro late last year and he'd only done about 4 RC Novice level things.
Tara has been doing intermediate pony club eventing last year (3"3ft), and we are jumping newcomers showjumping, and have joined BE this year in the hope of doing one intro, then onto pre novices, and maybe a novice or two at the end of the season.
