I am boggled. I am lorry searching and have seen lots of lorries classed as non HGV at around 5.5T.

So what license/test would I need to do to drive one? I passed my text after 1997, so can only drive a 3.5T on my license.

Hope someone can clear this up!

Thanks

Yes, HGV (as used in most adverts) is anything over 7.5 ton. If you only want to be able to drive up to 7.5ton then you will need your Cat C1, this will normally be done on a large transit type van and is pretty much the same test/cost as doing your Cat C, which allows you to drive over 7.5 ton. I have my Cat C1, if i had been allowed to i would have done the Cat C because you get the larger entitlement for much the same cost and effort, but i couldn't because i am diabetic
