What looks like sunburn??

Have posted this in Vet bit too but thought more of you would see it here.

Boris has a terribly scabby nose that is not sunburn - I'm thinking allergy but he also has three swollen legs too.

Has happened over 4 days whilst i've been away.

Any ideas would help greatly - thanks

Are buttercups still out? I know dat buttercups can make ur horses nose really scabby they are actually quite toxic...not sure weather they wud make his legs swell tho....

Hmm think it's too late for buttercups now isnt it? Just a thought because if it's long grass - could well be buttercups with the burnt nose & swollen legs especially if horse has white markings/pink skin.

As they cause a reaction, but I swear it's too late for buttercups

I have a feeling that there are buttercups in the field - thanks both of you.

Have treated with No Bute and penicillin ......

St Johns Wort now in flower can cause this.
