My liveries tell me that I am one and the reasons they have stated is that; I am knowledgeable, keep all horses looking fabulous, will help if asked, keep my nose out of their business and never interfere with what they are doing with their horses unless they specifically ask me. I'm one of the good guys
Very knowledgeable and supportive
Doesn't make you feel stupid about asking certain questions
Replaces anything that her staff break
Treats my horse with respect and kindness
Is a great instructor too!
One that lets me do what I want with my horse when I want, one that keeps an eye on things, one that is approachable and helpful, and one that has lots of land to hack on
We have a very friendly yard with absolutely no bitching at all. I think that the YO most important job is PR. By encouraging everyone, organising yard rides and outings it creates a great deal of comerarderie between liveries. There are no cliques here, its just an enjoyable place to escape to, and to spend time enjoying and learning with your equine friend.
Another important aspect of the job is being adaptable and trying to accommodate as many needs as possible.
A good YO is one that dosen't patronise people and make them feel worthless and unable to look after their own horse.
My YO is Bonzabean and she is cool. Her horses live down the bottom of the farm and mine lives at the top.I have my own paddock ans stables to do with what i like but i know that Bonza is there if i need her!.Bliss.
One that pays attention to detail WRT to your horse's wellbeing and behaviour. One that communicates with the owner. One that is highly knowledgeable and concientious and has the horse's best interests at heart.
