What muzzle is this?

I’ve seen a few photos but can’t find one now of a grazing muzzle that is clear coloured bendy plastic that fits similarly to a green guard and fits into a normal head collar.
Does anyone know the one?

Yes! Thank you.
They are expensive ? any reviews?

People on the laminitis and EMS pages on Faceache really rate them. Easy to fit, no rubbing and doesn’t restrict breathing. The only negative I’ve heard is that the hole is quite small and most people make it slightly larger. They are extortionately expensive though and for that reason I’ve left mine in his Dinky.

I’ve just bought one and replaced the green guard which was starting to cause some wear on his teeth. I cut the hole larger using a Stanley knife and milk bottle top.
I have found some rubbing on the nose where the middle strap goes (it’s attached by flat cable ties) and so have adapted the Le Mieux sheepskin fluff to go on (although he managed to get that off the headcollar yesterday!). He finds it easy to graze in and I’ve found he’s happier in this than the Greenguard.

Edited to say they do apparently have a bespoke head collar for it - I just used a leather one.

I’ve just ordered one and waiting impatiently for it to arrive... looking forward to using it! My guy has got on well with his Shires one but looking for something with more nostril space. I just bought one similar design to the Shires one but with nostril holes cut out but never got round to using it.

Mine arrived yesterday, gonna fit it later after he has had a good bell full of hay and some turn out. He would never stand still otherwise!

When I was researching muzzles I looked at this but the price put me off for what is essentially a bit of moulded plastic and I didn’t like the look of it. I’m having the greatest success with my shires comfort muzzle at the moment, the hole is a good size and the wool is stopping all rubbing. Horse is easy on it tho and doesn’t try to get it off, I don’t think it would stay on well with any attempt to get it off lol

Interesting. New fieldmate has one of these. It does seem to be freer but I wonder about it getting stuck on stuff as it’s quite open and sticks out. My boy is ok in his green guard although I’m not keen on what folks have said about rubbing on their teeth! My dentrust has never mentioned it though but I will check on the next visit.

Fixing with cable ties put me off. In the end I needed a muzzle for each of horses so got 2 ultimate muzzles for same price as 1 flexible filly. Has rubbed fur but not skin and seems good all round robust, restrictive & comfortable. Also neither has removed it

They are flat cable ties (not like usual standard ones) and it’s only rubbed on the part over his nose where his fur is thinner and the bone is obviously more protruding. Everywhere else (under chin etc) is fine no rubs.
I was concerned about it getting caught as as another poster said it’s flexibility means it does bag at the side (not enough for them to escape from it!) but mine is turned out in a post and rail with electric fence inner and no trees or branches (there are bushes and he can eat the hawthorn in it which I was pleased to see) but I would worry on my previous yard where he had access to trees and branches, I’m not sure I’d be comfortable using any muzzle if I was still there.
It’s easy to wipe clean and I’m going to reattach the fluff bit he got off (I had to cut it to fit round the attachments and I think it’s weakened the strength of the Velcro!) and strengthen with some stitching. The rub I’ve got is only fur and it hasn’t made him sore but I’d like to avoid if at all possible because it’s where his bridle sits too!

Of the fancy muzzle? I think £74.99 is the best price, there’s a Saddler’s doing it slightly cheaper but only in the draft horse size.

That's interesting sherry as that is exactly what I thought that cable tie bit would rub mine.

There is a specialist headcollar to go with them that has holes for you to thread the cable ties through so they're not against the horses skin.
I wasn't able to find one in the UK/Europe though, no mention of it on the EU thin line website.
Eta - link to such headcollar. https://mmtackshop.com/collections/...ter-for-grazing-muzzle?variant=31617513390163
On Google I can see a thinlineglobal.com have it listed on their site but as soon I click the link it sends me to thinlineglobal.eu which is irritating, and it's not on their site. It doesn't seem very easy to find so I wonder if it was discontinued.
I was put off for that reason - and the price.
I bought a dinky, she ate it, then I've bought an ultimate muzzle and despite fitting it as per there instructions she's being rubbed by it - and she's never been rubbed by a muzzle before.
So now I reckon I might well and up with a thin line one anyway.
They are ALOT cheaper in Canada (as in half the price) to the extent I was considering seeing how much postage might be - if anyone else was interested we could maybe put a large joint HHO order in to deliver to 1 person who could then send out to the rest of us and we share those costs?

I got mine from Throstlenest (I think that’s how it’s spelt!) saddlery. I paid around £65 plus postage - they had a discount on at the time and still appear to have it, just not sure what sizes they have. They were super helpful and ordered more in as were initially out of stock.

Yeah they are the cheapest I found, ThinLine also do 10% off code if you subscribe to their emails.
Mine arrived the other day and the hole is tiny! How big has anyone cut theirs to? Said pony is furious and I don’t actually think he can eat much at all through it the way it is!

I used a milk bottle lid drew round that then cut out with a Stanley knife and scissors, it gave perhaps an extra half cm circumference from the original circle? Surprisingly easy to cut and I’m left handed and often get criticised by my family how terribly I cut ?

Edited to say I have the Draught size so original hole size may differ for smaller ones!

10% if bought direct or just off the muzzle from anywhere?

I wrapped a bit of sheepskin around the bit on top of the nose and that stopped it rubbing. It's extremely expensive and I'm not sure I would replace it as my mare is fine in an ordinary shires type one. I keep it as a spare now, the shires is easier to put on.

Lots of muzzles are terrible designed. Nothing should be covering their nostrils and as horses jaws move sidewards they should also not restrict the movement. Front teeth wear is another problem reported with the greenguard muzzles. Some thought needs to be put into the design of them.

I have found the flexible filly muzzle ok for my mare ; the headcollar (a fieldsafe one) has rubbed her so her head is now encased in sheepskin/wool/fluff. She tolerates the muzzle really well and wears it for about 18 hours a day at the moment :( I did enlarge the hole but she is still well restricted and so far, her friends have not damaged or removed it! I haven't used another kind so can't really compare with anything else but it is definately much lighter and less 'encased' than other muzzles. So far, so good. If I had to replace it I am not sure what I would do though!! I hope that before long my dear horse won't need to wear a muzzle for such extended periods so that would impact on my choice.
