At the tender age of 42 myself and my 18yr old Irish Draft have decided to attend a local show at Easter. I have no idea what to wear - it is a small, riding club event and we will be entering two showing classes - one ridden and one in-=hand. Is there a website or link that anyone can offer so that I can grasp what I need to wear and what standard my boy needs to be turned out to? I know this is a very basic question but I just don't know where to go to find this stuff out - it seems to me that people just seem to 'know' (except me of course!!).

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Sue.

The horse magazines will soon be full of it. I would suggest, hacking jacket, beige/cream jods/breeches, velvet hat or cover. Horse plain bridle, black numnah if used, and plaited. Front cover of Horse is a pretty good example

Definately invest in a nice fitting tweed, I have a Tagg one thats a great fit and have used it for everything. Good luck at the show, it doesn't matter if you don't look perfect, the more you go the more you'll pick up.

You won't go far wrong in a nice fitting tweed jacket, shirt, tie, cream/beige breeches/jods, long boots, velvet hat & gloves for riding in

For in-hand, same tweed, shirt, tie, cords or "slacks" & short boots you can run in for trotting up in hand.

Horse should have plain bridle, GP saddle will suffice if you haven't got a VSD straight cut one, brown numnah (or black if you have black tack) - nothing fluffy or garish, matching girth, leather if you have one.

Keep it simple, no fussy bits or loud colours. Plain is always good, you don't want to stand out for the wrong reasons!!
