OK knew it was too simple!!

Shoes off 1 month ago. Mare didn't even seem to notice all, had snow/frozen ground soon after and all fine!

Snow melted/rained and field turned to bog. Mare started to feel odd stone end of Jan.

For last month frogs have been soft from standing in water logged field (only out for few hours, then in to clean flax bed to dry feet). Over last week mare has started to feel her front feet and today on the semi frozen ground was decidedly pottery

Pics from last month and tonight - http://s193.photobucket.com/albums/z221/Piebaldsparkle/Feet/ **I think the pink colour on sole in recent pics is residue dye from Hoof buster spray as ran out of Sole paint (rather than bruising)**

Have been riding in the sand school mainly as ground so wet and doing a small amount of road work 4 times per week.

So any ideas?

Back off the road work (only walking max 15mins).

Get hoof boots? Have reshod?

This is normal.

Most of us describe it as if "things wake up inside the feet". That's terribly unscientific, but we've all seen a horse who was perfectly happy become footsore after a couple of weeks.

Boots ordered (just hope I measured OK:confused:).

Sparks stayed in today and seems much more comfortable :)

What ones did you go for?

It's definitely going to be worth it so just hang in there. I am 8 and 4 months in with mine now and starting another one as well. I bought boots for one but she hasn't needed them much, good to know I have them tho.

This is 8/9 weeks since shoes off - still normal?

She was fine when shoe came off (didn't seem to notice) and fine all the time we had snow/frost/rock hard ground. Thrush looked pretty clear, though obviously still have deep cleft which need to grow out, before the next bout! Then the snow melted, it rain and paddock was completely water logged. Probably started getting footy 8 weeks in.

Yesterday was very foot sore (though seemed happier when I got back from work, but had been in stable a few hours by then.

Thanks for the link

All of mine went through the same thing, my vet told me that as the circulation returns to the foot it can become sensitive several weeks down the line. As much as we can see the changes to the outside of the hoof there is a hell of a lot more going on inside.

Is it possible you have a bit of grass coming through too? I have a little coming through in my fields, it's luminous - eek! :)

Not that I can see in her paddock, but have no doubt that there is grass coming through as the double fenced striped in neighbors paddock is luminous!

Did check for heat and pulses (found neither).
