What numnah do you use under your WH saddle? Half Numnah?

Does anyone use a Half Numnah to overcome problems on the depth?? Do they feel a lot different to 'normal' numnahs?? I see a lot of people wear them with a cloth - are they fine on their own?? Do they fit ok with just D ring straps? Sorry for dumb questions

I now have a Jeffries Stamford WH saddle (Chum moves better in a WH rather than chosen for showing) and I find that my Nuumed Hi Wither dressage square is the only one that fits it depth wise - my usual GP numnahs are too short and I find that for the girth to fit through the strap I have to pull it down and it is pulling down on his withers

I brought a Griffin WH numnah but even this is too short and pulls down on his withers but this is not a Hi Wither style so this may be why??

So I am going to have to ebay my numnah collection and buy new

Any recommendations? I do like the Nuumed Hi Wither numnahs so will either have to buy dressage style or maybe one of these half numnahs?

Thanks for any replies

I have the same saddle - love it! I use a premier equine polypad style thing that was in the sale or a plain dressage saddlecloth.

For competition I have a sheepskin bartl dressage saddle cloth and for jumping I use a plain black dressage numnah. Generally dressage style numnahs seem to fit it best.

I use shires and cottage craft WH/show numnahs, and have never had a problem with them fitting. They're good everyday ones as are a lot cheaper than Nuumed

Do you like your stamford? I tried one on mine, but it was a bit too small for my bum, but I absolutely loved the saddle...

I'm not a saddle connoisseur

as I'm a novice rider so have only ridden in a few different saddles but I find it very comfortable and secure.

It's a 17" as pony is shortbacked and 17.5" would probably be better for my fat ass but I haven't had any problems

I do have a Shires High Wither but I seem to keep drifting back to the NuuMed as they fit his withers so well but they are sooo expensive, hence the need to sell my others before splashing out on a new one

Am I right in thinking the polypad ones don't have straps? Does anyone know if they are okay on high-withered horses?

Poly pads dont have straps and the ones I use work their way down onto the withers and then try and escape out the back

. You are more than welcome to borrow one of my polypads should you wish.

And you aint no fat ass.

It was a 17" saddle I tried, and I ended up with an 18" one, so no talking of fat asses

I don't really like using my poly pad under WH saddles - they tend to flatten (and my horse has no withers to speak of) and pull back as they've got no straps.

fylde saddlery do them for show saddles those fit most show saddles and working hunter saddles.
if your feeling particularly well off then courtlea will do one made to measure for oyu!

shires & cottage craft full size saddlecloths for every day use. Thick brown fleecy numnahs from Fylde for shows. That's under an Ideal WH 17" Wide saddle. No problems! Would love to get the M2M courtlea numah...

hi ive got the nuumed original full wool numnah and i use mine
for workers it dos look smart with worker saddle as i have a dever one.
hope this helps
