What on earth to do with old horse walker area?

Odd title, but don't know how to phrase it! I have an area where the previous owner had a horse walker. The walker itself was removed when they moved and installed in their new place. So I have a shingle centre with a big concrete box in the middle (with 4 massive metal bolts coming out of it) and a concrete circle.

I find it really quite annoying as it is space I could use. I do not want a walker - not something id ever use. I am not sure how expensive it would be to have someone come and dig it up - tbh unless it's cheap it is not something I can afford right now. No idea what it'd involve.

so can anyone think of any ingenious way to use the space? I don't need storage, but do need turnout or somewhere to stick a round pen.

you could make a round pen, you can now lay certain types of surfaces straight onto concrete - speak to equestrian direct, then use a mesh pen for the outside rather than post and rail. this will prob be cheaper if you find a second hand one. gd luck

A round pen is probably the most useful piece of fixed equipment we have here, especially with a turning post in the middle. It is next to the 12'x30' shelter. The farriers and vets love it! As there is usually fresh grass inside, the ponies do too and walk straight in as soon as the gate is opened. During recent heavy rain, we put the herd in the round pen and shedded them off one at a time into the field shelter so the farrier could trim in the dry. (We didn't get a discount though!).

Thanks, JG, for confirmation about the demolition hammer. Apparently I need one to install the new wood burner!

Ooh, that's cheap. I could easily just get rid of the concrete then.

So - with regards to walker construction - what is under the big central block of concrete? Is it just a big block of concrete?,!?
