Just so that this question is not asked again ..... and again ..... and again.
If you are new to an area and have never hunted previously, then ask around locally for the telephone number of your Hunt Secretary. If moving from one pack to another, then ask your current HS for the details of the HS in the area to which you are moving. If you just wish to "have a look" then Google The MFHA website.
Very, very easy really.

how nice and sarky!
why does it bother you if people ask where to hunt? if you don't want to reply/read it then don't open the post. very, very easy really.

however, it is nicer sometimes to ask on here as some hunts overlap certain areas and some are known for jumping hedges, some timber, some don't jump much, some have large fields, some very quiet etc.

for example, where i am i have the choice of 3 different hunts all within hack/ easy trip in the trailer.
my regular pack is known as a very fast pack where there is a lot of jumping for the field.
one down the road is much quieter, slower and less jumping- that is the pack i would suggest to start a youngster off in as much less exciting for the horse.

Why is it a problem - I am newly returned to hunting and have been pleasantly suprised by how welcoming and friendly people have been once out, but it was someone on here that encouraged me to go and offered to meet and babysit me, I haven't hunted in this area before.

Surely we should encourage people to ask questions and if it then gives them the confidence to ring and find out and increase hunt numbers, even by one, all the better.

If you don't like the question on the post - don't open it!

I'll babysit anyone who wants to come out with the Cheshire Farmers Drag. Unless they ask on here I can't make that offer.

Although I think the post is unecessarily patronising, I do often wonder why the same questions come up again and again, when a simple search will answer the question in seconds. My favourite is 'what to wear'....!

Its a bit daunting for first timers,so I dont care how manyt times I have to tell people that providing you and your horse are clean and smart with the best you have, nobody will look down on you. If you find you like it ,then you will start to collect some hunting gear. And as you become a regular, I hope you then pass on the same help and advice to others.

Some hunts can be quite aloof, some very open and welcoming some cross bit bloody hedges some cross mainly civilised post and rail, if you are new to hunting I'd say ask here and give an indication to what horse you have and what area, and what you would like hopefully someone will offer to meet you and introduce you to a few people and not give the impression of a snotty seasoned hunter with high opinions of themselves!
