I have treated myself to a couple of jump wings and have some old poles that were left behind by the previous inhabitants. They are all untreated and, in attempt to make them last longer/have a "fun" half term activity, I would like to paint them. But i have no idea what sort of paint to use. Will just left over emulsion that I have kicking around work or do I need a specialist wood paint?

Can recommend Cuprinol Garden Shades shed and fence paint. Not sure how much protection it will give untreated wood, but really easy to apply. No primer needed. Shop around for the best deal, and check the can size.
I have used this for the shed and fence at home. Might have some left over!

gloss is best. Paint darkest colour first and use tape to cover edges of colour once dried to prevent colour run into the next door colour. I used to do this as a living

all gloss will do the same job. If you choose to use an emulsion you will need more of it and need to finish with a hardwearing varnish to finish like yacht varnish.
