What preparations to make for a first clip?

As above .. Pony having his first ever clip on Sunday, only a bib clip.

Would be grateful for any preparations I should be making for the big day

Also a first for me, as all my ponies and horses would not know a winter coat if it came and bit them on the bum

Only thing I could tell you is make sure they're good and clean Never clipped before but have observed and was warned that my boy had to be well groomed before my instructor clipped him! Have fun xx

Hot cloth him with a splash of dettol in on the bits he is having clipped off making sure you get right to the bottom of the coat, then towel dry him. If possible have him there when another horse is clipped so he is used to the noise and distraction is your friend when he is being done so a haynet a mini likit or what ever else that takes time.
