It depends what you want the horse for & also how deep your pockets are. I've been at Scope Festival of Show Jumping most days this week & 'a decent horse' there could cost you a few thousand at one end of the scale up to £50,000 - £100,000+ at the other end of the spectrum.

Sorry a 'decent horse' sounded very bad and i didnt really think it through as it sounded like some horses wernt decent when they are so i have changed the question.

LOL, you still haven't answered the question though... Asking what would you pay for a horse is a bit like what would you pay for a car. What car? Is it a Fiesta or a Range Rover?
Basically, depending what your expectations of the horse are, your budget will have to change accordingly
