Clipping my horse tomorrow (hunter clip, everything off except legs) so what rug do you think I should use that night, I've got a long neck fleece, 100g standard neck rug, 250g standard neck rug, 360g full neck rug, can't decide what rug or combination of rugs would be best. He's a shire x gypsy vanner and according to weather it's going to be 8C.

Currently thinking either the fleece & 100g rug or fleece & 250g rug.

The link it to a photo of him, for some reason I couldn't get it to post on here like normal.

Before & After shots spot the difference!

Has he been rugged up till now? If not then I would probably put him in the 250g rug only, but I'm not a big fan of having fleece rugs on underneath. Smart boy :)

I would start with just the 250 and see how he is you can always add one if he gets a bit cold but if he is too warm he will not be able to take it off himself. His legs are going to be warm and he looks like a good doer.

I have a warmblood x welsh D and she is clipped, everything but half head and legs. Yesterday I put on her 125g rug as she was getting a bit cold, I just check her twice a day to make sure she's the right temperature.

I would also go for the 250g and keep the 350g for when we get frosts. I am assuming he is in at night....and we are not talking about a turnout rug with a hunter clip? You shouldn't need the fleece until January say. People do tend to over rug and I don't know about you but I hate being too hot :(
