This weather is driving me crackers.
My mare was too warm in her m/w turnout last week, so when we got back from our clinic yesterday, as it was quite sunny, I put her out naked, which she loved.
However, it is now quite cold in windy Warwickshire, so I've left a lightweight t/o for her to wear today, but I'm beginning to wonder if she'd be better back in the m/w!
She's a fine skinned, wimpy, spoilt quarter horse BTW.
What rugs are yours wearing in the field today?
 
mine are in there light weights today, they were out rugless over the weekend but it was rather cold this morning and being at work 9-5 i cant go and change it if the weather turns.
 
Well ............. he had about 100g on over easter when it was REALLY warm, then it went a bit colder yesterday so had his m/w on, today its warm again ! can't win, he is fully clipped though so should be too hot
 
Medium weight for the mare, I think she may of had a late clip or a second clip (before I got her) and I there is a chill in the air today, I'm cold, I've had my heater on in the office today, but Saturday was very warm...its so hard knowing how the weather is going to turn specially if you only have chance to do a rug change on your way to work, Sh*tbag just has his Amigo rain sheet on though.
 
Mine are both NAKED!! Altho they are fat and hairy so no worries about them, the pony is 29yo, but she's as hard as nails and loves being able to really scrub the mud in properly!!:rolleyes::D
 
Unless it is raining mine get turned out naked during the day. At night they wear lightweight stable rugs. If it is raining they get turned out in rain sheets with no fill.
 
G had a hunter clip over winter. She's naked in the day and has a rainsheet at night. Even if it goes off cold again the most she'll have now until she's clipped in September is a rainsheet.
 
Mine are all naked today. I have 4 native ponies who are good do-ers and an elderly (26+) mini tb type who is harder to keep weight on. None of them have been clipped. The natives have been naked for a while now although they were rugged in winter. My old girl still has a rug on at night and I let the weather dictate about daytime. If its not so warm or its raining she has a rug in the day time too.
 
Arion is out in all his glorious and naked beauty today - and its a welcome sight, they all seem so happy to be out rugless :D
 
Mine are in no fill T/O - (a) our field is a mud patch and (b) they get mild SI and better for having a rug on. If staying in during the day they are naked. At night this week it is set to be 2 - 4 so they will be in their 100 g stable rugs as both are still growing out their clips. They are fairly tough sorts but do like being kept warm and dry - both are very miserable if cold and wet.

in fact = thank god i put her MW with neck on last night = we had a frost - i was scrappign my truck this morning!

has anyone sen the weather forecast for next week...... scary!! snow!!
 
Mine is out in the buff today! He didn't have much of a clip and it's mostly grown out anyhow! I cleverly sent his L/W TO away to be cleaned and reproofed so unless it turns cold again that's how he'll have to stay till I can pick his rug up!

yup sun here all day too :D just a chillyish wind and forst this am - it was 1'C at 7am when i was scarping my truck and only 2.5 when i was feeding/changing rugs
i'm up at the base of the highlands btw ;) and yup - minus temps and snow forecast for us next week on metcheck :(
 
Cash (blanket clipped TB) was in his fly rug :shocked: at the weekend when it was really warm, and a fleece at night. He's currently in LW TO with neck, and will probably be in LW stable tonight. :)
This weather is very tiresome- since I got him 2 weeks ago, he's been in a MW, LW, fly rug, fleece, LW stable, MW stable... :D
 
mine are naked now, they have just had their rugs taken off. They were naked yesterday, and the old one was naked on sat, but it was chilly this am!!
 
In field naked!

summer coat is coming through and he is a fine skinned tbx - he was sweating under his thermatex last week!
