My fully clipped mare is out today in a mw combo cos it's quite warm, yesterday she was out with a hw stable rug under a lw combo cos it was a lot colder - just depends on the temp and weather really, varies day to day at the moment!
My hairy unclipped boy went into his 300g with hood last night. Its well cold here (Scotland) and wind chill and heavy rain are making it feel even colder brrrr
Unclipped arab out in no fill rain sheet. Will stay in that until it drops consistantly below freezing then may consider a mw no neck turnout. She hold onto weight way too well.
2 in their twenties are unclipped in MW rugs, no necks, temperature 5C, light wind feels damp and cold, rain due later--they are in at night
Grazing was 3ft underwater Thurs.
Useable yesterday and today.
All our fully clipped horses have a therma/fleece on, + mw stable rug in the day if its mild and at night we add an extra thick stable rug with a neck.
None I don't find them flattering Why do people keep asking what "we" have on today
Unclipped yearling is naked, mostly-grown back trace clipped cob is naked, fully clipped but now fluffy highland is in a light MW no neck to keep him clean...
It's only -2C (at 10.40am) not cold in the grand scheme of things, the sky is blue and the sun is shining and there is no wind, plus they are mostly on their way to morphing into yaks and would be sweating their little wotsits off
200g combo's with snuggy turn out head/neck underneath to fill in the gaps!! was about 8' here, with a cool wind - both boys are fully clipped. baby pony just has neck/belly clip and is naked - she needs to loose some weight!
