what do you use on your big necked cobs? mine was cut at 2 so has a big crest
indoor and outoor (outdoor is usually the one I get most problems with) mw and heavy weight with necks - what do you use combo/detatchable? brand? any under rugs/neck hoods, products??

I have found that weatherbeeta Genero combo rugs are good and keeping both rug and mane clean, I also use pig oil, but just want to know your opinions incase I'm missing out on something!

:o

I use Fal rugs on my boy, his neck's not massive just ample, but his shoulders are huge and they're the only ones that don't rub. there's more than enough room in the neck for him so a bigger necked horse would be fine. They're not cheap but mine will be going into their 8th winter this year and still perform brilliantly. (They've been washed & reproofed annually and minor tears fixed.)

I have tried pretty much every make of rug on my boy who has a massive neck and problems with his mane rubbing (Gypsy Vanner x Cylesdale). I find weatherbeeta landa combo rugs the best for him. I now only use these rugs and have not had any problems with his mane coming out since.

Thanks - we also have a fal that is about 10 years old, yes they are great but sadly out of my pricerange at the moment!
good to hear that about the weatherbeeta, cant remember off the top of my head, does the Landa come in MW & HW? stable and turnout?

I have a Shires Highlander combo for my chunky cob, it has a lovely roomy neck and shoulder. She is hogged now, but it never rubbed her mane at all when she was hairy. x
