Lightweight on my unclipped boy. He never goes in more than a medium weight, with fleece underneath, and that is only when we get super cold minus temperatures with snow.
The lightweight is for the rain more than the cold. Dontcha know Shires melt in rain...

I would say do not go up to a hw , just to let her get used to the temp, and then you leave yourself with something to play with when we get down to minus figures in the day :)

I'm doing this.
It's about 6 in the day and down to 2-3 at night. My lad's hunter clipped and in a 100g by day and 170g by night.
I'm saving the big guns for when it really hits properly!

We are down to below zero now, My clipped horsey is in a thick duvet and medium weight stable rug on top of that, and tomorrow she will have her heavy weight stable rug on. My un-clipped horsey has a medium-weight stable rug but that has only just gone on so she will stay the same!

My boy is still in a medium with no neck, day and night! He's fully clipped and tb, and is always very warm when I go to feed him am and pm! I wouldn't move up just yet if I were you!

m/w with neck and cotton sheet under that for field, at night he has a l/w - m/w stable rug on top of cotton sheet.

Am trying my hardest to keep any other rug off him for the moment, unless it really drops.
He is fully clipped.

Mine are both still in MW with necks, and just a blanket clip. I'm also saving my heavy weights... As it really isn't that cold yet, and if the warning is correct, we're meant to be in for a very cold winter! Brrrr

It's going to touch freezing tonight here and 6/8 degrees in the day.
My fully clipped TB is in a HW full neck T/O out in the field during the day. At night in the stable he wears a full neck fleece under a full neck HW stable rug.
He's just right.
When it's gets really cold (snow), he'll wear a MW stable rug under his HW t/o during the day and at night he will wear a HW standard neck under or over his HW full neck stable OR I might use a duvet, haven't decided yet.
:).
