what rugs?

what rugs would fit a 15hh, hackney x?
hes currently in a 6'3 masta which is b*ll*cks.
he is very round and barrelish which means he needs deep rugs, and the horse he is turned out with is a serial rug wrecker-
so what makes of rug are both hard wearing and deeeeep?
we have just bought him so now he needs kitting out as his own rugs are past it!

I don't like Masta rugs, they don't fit my girl at all. She has got Weatherbeeta's and Shire's and they fit lovely and are hard wearing

I bought a masta for our big girl last autumn, it hasn't lasted well ata ll and although it fits length-wise, has rubbed in strange places and is not deep enough. So in the spring sales I got her a mark todd combo - so far so good, much deeper, all round better fit. Luckily none of ours tend to damage their rugs so couldn't really vouch for the strength of it but I have had many different MT rugs for my 2 over the years and they are yet to rip one.
Heard good things about horseware ones too although think MT are significantly cheaper!

I only buy Masta rugs nowadays - they're the only thing that fit my round welsh cob and I've found the quality to be excellent

Surprised to hear that other people have found them not very good!

My saddler won't stock masta rugs anymore cos of the complaints he gets on how they rub the horses, (I found the same as well, masta rugs rub, especially by the withers)

Don't do Masta Rugs, rubbish fit.
Have Weatherbeeta and Rambo/Rhino/Amigo and all do a very good job.

weatherbeetas seem to have a good deep chest - fit both my horses - my 15h1(ish) welsh cob X takes a 6ft3 and my 16h1 TB takes a 6ft6!

I bought a Mark Todd turnout rug for my 16.3 and it is really deep and fits well, don't know how durable it is as he hasn't needed to wear it yet!

Rambos are the best. Rhinos ok did use Masta when i had a cob but do not fit any thing else i have had. Rambos last and last so worth the extra money

I have just bought a premier equine rug for my mare. i obviously can't comment on how well it lasts but it is really deep, even on my barrel shaped cob

My Fal rugs lasted a lifetime and fit well. My horse is quite fine though, not barrel like.

Rambos all the way. I bought cheap crap rugs like masta when I first got a horse many many years ago. They lasted less than a year so went and bought a new full wardrobe of Rambos from dustbuster to newmarket to Wugs (x4!) and none have needed replacing and some of them are 9 years old and completely waterproof! Much cheaper in the long run!

What are Rambo's like size wise? My TB is a 6ft in weatherbeeta rugs but I bought him a 6ft FAL and it totally drowns him! He has quite a narrow chest.

I dont like masta never fit horse properly always rub etc, and horse wasnt an odd shape either.

Love weatherbeeta rugs, they are the only ones I have really.
