what saddle for a cob

newbie advice! i would like to buy a new saddle for my 15.2 cob, hes quite athletic in build (not hugely round) and he has a little bit of a whither x want the best comfy sort for an all round type venture! what would you recommend, currently in a' beauty synthetic/leather mix' saddle, and it feels a little plasticy and hard underneath and want him to be comfy xx all advice appreciated!

I have the Thorowgood T4 cob for low withers ...fabulously comfy and you have the added attraction that you can change the gullet as your horse changes shape

Cobs can be quite difficult to fit because of the low wither. I have a mix of Albions and Ideals for mine. Really the best thing is to get a qualified fitter to come to you and try out a range.

Unless you have a good "eye" for what fits and what doesn't - and this is only developed over time - then I would strongly advise the OP to get a good/qualified saddle fitter out.

Bear in mind that you will need regular saddle checks as well as horses change shape due to time of year, work/feed, etc.
