What saddle

You really dont know till you have your new horse home. Best thing would be to book a saddler to come out with some saddles - check your new horses previous owners as to what the saddle size was as a guideline. You are far more likely to simply waste your money by buying a saddle on line unless it is a specific make and size you were searching for - and even then, still get it properly checked by your saddler.

yeah, im just trying to plan everything lol, well the GFS one is multi gullets so should fit most horses? i know he has a stubben saddle at the moment, but they wont sell it (to be honest would be too much anyway!) any saddlers recommended nr chelmsford? cheers, i wouldnt buy it before i got the horse! have put another post up about using a saddler or owners of livery to fit saddle

Hi

My two favourite saddle makes would be Bates for leather (they come with interchangeable gullets and inserts) and Wintec for synthetic (again, interchangeable gullets and inserts).

As Luci07 said, I would definitely get whichever saddle you opt to buy professionally checked! And by this I mean a saddler, not someone that just has good horsey knowledge. I should supposedly know how to do it since I have my BHS IV, and although I can tell you whether it fits or not, I would still get a fitter for my own!

What horsey are you buying?

Bea :-)

I looked at these last year when my saddler stocked them - but he stopped stocking them because he got complaints about the stitching coming apart, poor qualiity materials etc. The fact that they now appear on EquestrianClearance speaks volumes!

As the others say, wait till you have your horse and get him professionally fitted, a good leather second hand need not cost the earth.

thanks, well im not going for that horse :) theres a thread and a couple of people said to stay away from roger....

Oh and do be prepared that saddle has to fit horse first, you second. Can't count the times I have found the perfect saddle for me, only to find there is a niggle for the horse... Or buying a new horse, when theoretically my dressage should fit, only to find in reality it didn't..

aww :( well the horse i went to see today i dont think is the one for me, yeah ill find one for him/her or hopefully afew that fit them and see what one i like out of them
