Well i always were a relecftive top, carry a mobile phone (on me not the horse), i have a tag on my horse's saddles with emergency contact numbers on, i have emergency contact numbers on my mobile, i tend to carry a whip, i always wear a hat. Erm that's all i can think of at the mo!!!
I always wear gloves, hat and reflective tabbard and carry a whip. I make sure someone I'm with has a mobile or that people know where I'm going. I have emergency information taped to the inside of my hat. I ride with due care and attention and will not ride out with people who cannot or refuse to control their horses or those that are inconsiderate either to members of teh public, the law or teh other people they are hacking with. OMG I sound like a boring, anal old fart
Always wear hat, gloves and proper boots with no grips.
Loads of hiviz on both me and the horse (in case we get separated!), always carry mobile phone and tag on saddle/bridle with contact details. Still carry 10p for phone box for some strange reason! Oh and string to make emergency mendings, oh and hoofpick in case ned stands on stone
Always carry mobile fully charged and on, stick to same route or tell OH where I am going, have emergency details on me and horse, carry hoofpick and emergency wound cream, wear massive reflective yellow coat all the time, back protector, baler twine, gloves, whip.
Just a thought tabithakat64....in an emergency where you have fallen from your horse, it is unlikely that an emergency person would remove your hat in case of damage to your spine so they would not have access to your emergency details.....perhaps better in a pocket??? An ambulance man pointed this out to me once and it is a fair point indeed!
Mobile phone or 50p(in case no signal-and near a payphone), hi-viz vest, all the usual PPE(hat, boots, jods etc) Laminated piece of card in my inside pocket with my name address and emergency contact details
True, I don't usually have any pockets as don't wear a coat and only one pair of my breeches have an outside pocket. Plus I always wear suitable foot wear after getting my foot stuck in the stirrup whilst riding in trainers
Always tell someone which route I'm taking
Carry charged up mobile phone
Mobile has I.C.E. numbers for me & for horse
Wear Hi-viz jacket/fleece/polo shirt plus tabard with CAUTION HORSE on it.
Wear hat with hi-viz band
Horse wears hi-viz neck strap and leg wraps.
Have stirrups with cages
Never ride on road during school run time
Never ride in dark/dusk/fog/poor visibility.
Emergency tags on tack & me!
If going out in lorry for a hack, attach small first aid kit to saddle.
Always carry my mobile, hi viz jacket or vest, wear proper boots and carry a whip. I don't have any tags on me or Cropi though. Most people know where we come from and I don't often ride out on my own
well i wear a hat ofcourse, also a body protector every time i hack my very well behaved mare, and also this jacket
when its too warm for that i wear a fluorescent yellow tabard over my body protector
if its raining them my mare has a fluorescent yellow exercise sheet
I wear enough hi-viz (pink) stuff that instructor once told me I was up there with the Great Wall of China and the Great Barrier Reef, ie visible from outer space! Seriously, the BHS will tell you that when riding out, the first thing that drivers see driving round country lanes is the rider's hat over the top of the hedges. So don't forget the hi-vis hat band!
